Mari Aschehoug is a young Norwegian soprano, who studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. Mari especially loves singing baroque music, and she’s already been a soloist with the Norwegian Baroque Ensemble several times, with leaders such as Steven Devine, Kati Debretzeni and Alexis Kossenko. She has sung a lot of the famous oratorios and church music, Purcell’s Fairy Queen twice, and Mahler’s 4th Symphony with both the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Arctic Philharmonic. Last year she was a part of the new Opera Academy of the Queen Sonja Competition, for singers under 25 years old. Despite her young age, Mari is a sought-after soloist in Norway, and is often used as soloist in Bach’s Magnificat, Christmas Oratorio, Matthew’s Passion, Händel’s Messiah, Pergolesi’s Stabat mater, Fauré’s Requiem and more.
